More and more I see articles about building data centers in cold, but isolated areas because of the “free”cooling. The last years we have successfully optimized cooling installations in the data centers which is great. Let’s take the next step: re-use heat from a data center! Building a data center to isolated places won’t make […]Read More Data centers in cold but isolated places
It’s again more than 5 years ago that we started not using compressor cooling in our atom86 & Schuberg Philis data center.
How cool is that when you consider there are still data centers build these days using chillers which are consuming to much electricity.
In stead of chillers we use cooling towers and aquifer thermal energy storage systems which provided us 100% cooling.Read More 5 year ago we stopped with compressor cooling in our datacenter
It’s up to the IT now to become more energy efficientRead More The reason for having Immersed Computing in our atom86 data center
A large datacenter like Schuberg has, uses millions liters of cooling water every year and lots of chemical additives to prevent scale formation in the water cooling system. In search for a better solution, Schuberg Philis has been the first organization in the Netherlands to implement a new process, with the help of Frans Durieux […]Read More More than 90% reduction of discharge water and chemical free in the Schuberg Philis data center
What we have learned about the replacement of a 12-year old cooling installation within the existing Schuberg Philis data center without any downtime for the IT-systems customers and keep optimizing since the commissioning.Read More Looking back to the 86% energy saving project in the Schuberg Philis & atom86 data center
At Schuberg Philis and atom86, we make use of a combination of both cooling towers and Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) to cool our data center in a very efficient way. During the winter, we create more cooling capacity with the cooling towers than is needed for the data center with these cold temperatures. This […]Read More Using heat from a data center to remove ice from cooling towers
