Oil company HF Sinclair has launched a new cooling fluid for direct-to-chip environments. Innovate, the liquid cooling brand from HF Sinclair's lubricants and specialties business, announced this week the launch of Innovate DTC25, a propylene glycol-based direct-to-chip cooling fluid, according to DatacenterDynamics.
The launch expands Innovate's liquid cooling portfolio beyond immersion cooling into direct-to-chip environments. The company said the new product has been developed in alignment with the Open Compute Project's Base Specification for PG25 heat transfer fluids.
DTC25 Fluid is a pre-mixed, ready-to-use heat transfer fluid formulated with high-quality propylene glycol and high-purity deionized water. The company said the formulation uses Organic Acid Technology inhibitors to support long-term corrosion protection against copper, steel, brass, cast iron, and aluminum, and incorporates a biostatic formulation to help maintain fluid integrity over its service life, freeze protection for sub-zero conditions, and fluorescent blue dye to support early leak detection.
The fluid is free of nitrite, amine, phosphate, and silicate, and is designed to meet OCP PG25 materials compatibility guidelines. Because the fluid is pre-mixed, Innovate said operators can eliminate on-site mixing requirements and ensure a consistent fluid composition at installation.
"Innovate DTC25 fluid draws on decades of experience formulating high-performance fluids for demanding OEM applications and applies that expertise to the next generation of data center cooling," said Alex Buczek, director of new business development at HF Sinclair lubricants and specialties. "As liquid cooling architectures continue to evolve, customers need more than a fluid supplier. They need partners that understand fluid performance, system protection and the demands of critical infrastructure."
Texas-based, NYSE-listed HF Sinclair produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, renewable diesel, and other specialty products, operating refineries in Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming, Washington, and Utah. The company launched its original immersion cooling fluid for data centers in 2024, following a wider trend of petrochemical firms diversifying into data center cooling fluids.
